In 1980, when the invasion of Africanized bees in South America began to wreak havoc, a young entrepreneur named Refael Martínez decided he wanted to be part of the solution. At just 14 years old, he started his own beekeeping and began learning everything he could about bees and their importance to the country's environment and biodiversity. Over time, Refael's business grew and he discovered new areas of the country that offered even more opportunities for beekeeping. In 2002, his work was recognized with the National Exporters Award for the Purple Gold Project, which integrated the country's biodiversity, the social incorporation of beekeepers and the inclusion of ethnic communities and artisanal growers of eucalyptus, aloe and ginger in the chain. of production.

Later, Israel Salazar, a visionary investor and market expert, joined the Biovital team with the goal of taking the company beyond its borders. Thanks to his leadership, Biovital became the most modern propolis processing and packaging plant, with plans to serve more than 20 countries.
